A contribution on „Patterns in modeling and querying a knowledge graph for literary history” has been published in the edited volume „Patterns in Language and Communication”, edited by Sabine Arndt-Lappe, Sören Stumpf, Milena Belosevic, Peter Maurer, Claudine Moulin and Achim Rettinger. The article was written as part of the TCDH project 'Mining and Modeling Text: Interdisciplinary applications, informational development, legal perspectives (MiMoText)'.
„Patterns in modeling and querying a knowledge graph for literary history”

Bringing together linguistics and media and communication studies, this volume showcases interdisciplinary perspectives on the nature of patterns in language and communication.

Maria Hinzmann, Matthias Bremm, Tinghui Duan, Anne Klee, Johanna Konstanciak, Julia Röttgermann, Moritz Steffes, Christof Schöch, and Joëlle Weis present the role of patterns in knowledge generation in the field of data-driven literary history. The starting point and central focus is the knowledge base on the French Enlightenment novel, which was created as part of the project „Mining and Modeling Text: Interdisziplinäre Anwendungen, Informationsentwicklung, rechtliche Perspektiven“ (MiMoText). This knowledge base provides structured knowledge in the field of literary history—modeled as a graph and queryable via SPARQL query language. The authors illustrate the added value of the project-specific knowledge graph both through relatively simple query patterns and by highlighting the importance of federated queries, which are of considerable significance for the potential of the Linked Open Data paradigm.
