Website of the Project: Digital Middle High German inter-linked
The aim of the American-German cooperation project "Digital Middle High German Inter-linked / Digitales Mittelhochdeutsches Textarchiv" was to provide an extensive collection of Middle High German texts on the Internet that are based on the standard academic editions and are philologically reliable.
In addition to the digitization of the texts and their labeling in accordance with the TEI standards in XML, the work program also included the development of suitable user interfaces. As a result, separate websites were created at both project locations that offer the text archive with different technical processes and focus on different content. While the focus on the American surface was the linking of texts, glossaries and dictionaries, Trier placed particular emphasis on the reproduction of the texts that was faithful to the issue and on the most convenient access options possible. Through the use of various technical processes, the special advantages and disadvantages of the current XML and web development techniques could be compared with one another and valuable experience gained for the construction of extensive text archives in the future.
