As part of the academy's project "Dictionary of Old Uighur", an editorial system was developed at TCDH by Martin Sievers as a framework for the XML editor “oXygen”.

For this purpose, a TEI-based XML schema was first developed on the basis of the printed dictionaries. In consultation with the researchers of the project at the Göttingen Academy, a graphical user interface was created that enables dictionary articles to be written and annotated conveniently.

The "author mode" allows the texts to be edited without having to know or edit the underlying XML structure. In addition, functions for further processing have been integrated, which can be started at the push of a button. This includes the HTML preview of one or more articles as well as the transfer to a PDF file with the help of the open source typesetting program LaTeX and the storage in a long-term archivable form.

The present framework shows the possibilities that oXygen offers for the specific case of the "Dictionary of Old Uighur". For a productive use of the tool, however, additional things must be added and adjustments made.
