The aim of the project is the philological processing of the complicated history of the creation and revision of the Shakespeare translations by August Wilhelm Schlegel and the Tieck circle (1797-1852) in a digital edition. The Romantic Shakespeare translations have shaped the German reception of Shakespeare to this day, as they played a decisive role in the creation of a specifically 'German Shakespeare'. The respective text versions of the translation are to be edited and annotated for the first time according to the latest digital edition-philological standards. At the same time, the project is intended as a contribution to the development of suitable, specific modules for the digital edition of literary translations, which have not yet been taken into account in digital edition philology in this respect.
