Open Science
Research in a Transparent and Freely Available Manner
Committed to the Open Science Concept
Whenever possible, we rely on Open Science for research data, software components and publications that arise in our projects. Via Open Science, researchers, teachers, learners and the general public worldwide are given access to these resources and guarantees the best possible traceability, reusability and impact of our research.
Open Source
When developing software components, we consistently rely on open source. In the interests of sustainability, we reuse existing components or develop them further. Whenever possible, we publish new components and systems with open licenses so that third parties can use them again. The contemporary user experience design of our portals enables all interested parties to critically examine specialist content. In order to make our software more reusable or to make research results reproducible, many of our tools are also made available on Github or similar repositories.
Open Access
When publishing research results, we use Open Access as much as possible so that our research is available to researchers and interested parties worldwide, regardless of library budgets or institutional connections. We also think ahead about Open Access in terms of machine-readable, semantic labeling of publications.
Open Data
In many of our projects, partly extensive, partly deeply developed, always unique research data arise: digital editions, lexicographical resources, literary text collections, digital copies of cultural assets and much more. We make this research data available for re-use in established standard formats, above all XML-TEI and provided with metadata. We also ensure long-term storage, easy traceability and open licensing of the research data in accordance with the FAIR and CARE principles. We also develop legally flawless solutions for data protected by copyright.
