The important Low German dictionary is now digitally accessible via the Trier dictionary network - a milestone for linguistic and cultural research in Mecklenburg.
The dictionary was created as part of the DFG-funded “Wossidlo-Teuchert online” project, which was implemented over two and a half years by an interdisciplinary team. The Wossidlo Research Unit, the Department of Low German Philology, the Chair of Database Information Systems and the University Library of the University of Rostock were involved in close cooperation with the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (TCDH).
The digital version not only makes the rich vocabulary of the Mecklenburg dialect accessible, but also links it with extensive linguistic and folkloristic information. Users can access digitized sources directly from the dictionary articles, which were consulted during the compilation process. In addition, numerous links provide further information, for example on places of reference, oral sources and entries in the digital Wossidlo archive WossiDiA - all accessible with just a few clicks.
