Institute founder Prof. Kurt Gärtner visits the Marbach literature archive

Prof. Gärtner is speaking in Marbach from the beginnings of computer philology to the digital dictionary of the Brothers Grimm.

As early as 1974 Kurt Gärtner published on the importance of the computer for the edition of old German texts. In 1998 Kurt Gärtner founded the competence center for electronic cataloging and publication processes in the humanities at the University of Trier, today the Trier Center for Digital Humanities. In his lecture he shed light on the beginnings of computer philology using the example of the "Digital Grimm"; it was moderated by Roland S. Kamzelak.
