The Trier Dictionary Network continues to grow! In the future, access to further external resources will be possible.
Faustedition

Faust and Mephisto in Fausts's study, engraving by Tony Johannot after “Faust” by Goethe, between 1845 and 1847, scan from: Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Faust - Der Tragödie Erster Teil, mit Illustrationen aus drei Jahrhunderten, ed. by Hans Hanning, Berlin: Rütting & Loening, 1982, 2nd ed., p. 99, Tony Johannot (died 1852); Faust. Eine Tragödie. 1808. 309 Seiten, Hagen 310 D1 Erstausgabe (Erstdruck). Vorderdeckel 12,8 x 9,8 cm. © Foto H.-P.Haack

The linking of the dictionary network with external resources has begun: It is now possible to go directly from the Goethe dictionary to the digital edition of Faust and the Weimar edition of Goethe's works. While the link to the Faustedition is precise, the link to the Weimar Edition is a page-by-page link to the digital copies of the Internet Archive. In this way, users can now view the references, which are often only quoted or mentioned in the Goethe dictionary, in their entirety and in context; with a view to the Faust edition, the digital copies of the manuscripts can also be accessed. In total, around 350,000 references from the Goethe dictionary have been linked to the external resources.

The new links are only the beginning: In the future, further sources and editions are to be linked with the Goethe dictionary, so that a digital Goethe knowledge network is created and a closely networked use of research on Goethe, especially the editions, becomes possible. The digital Goethe dictionary forms the nucleus for this.
