On July 7, 2022 from 16-18 s.t. the next Young Scientists Colloquium of the Patterns Network will take place. Anne Klee and Julia Röttgermann from the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (MiMoText project) and Dr. Peter Maurer from Media Studies will talk about “Topic Modeling in Action” from different perspectives.

The meeting is planned as a participatory format along the two keynote lectures, which should be profitable for topic modeling beginners as well as advanced users. It is divided into two parts: first, the analysis of political tweets on the flood disaster using the stm package in R will be presented, the second part will present a topic modeling pipeline with Python applied to a corpus of 18th century French novels from the MiMoText project.

The focus will be on methodological and theoretical perspectives. Questions and discussions are planned and highly encouraged!
