The project “eCodicology” has now got its own website providing information on contents, work progress, and methodology.
“eCodicology” is based on the project “Virtual Scriptorium St. Matthias” in which medieval inventory of the library of the Benedictine abbey St. Matthias in Trier was digitised and supplemented with metadata.
The project uses this database and develops algorithms which automatically register macro- and microstructural design elements and embed them into the metadata. The thus gained results can be used as a basis for further analyses of collections of manuscripts.
