HERMES WebsiteWith the help of topic modelling, topics from individual texts can be identified from a corpus of texts. This helps to group, analyse and interpret corpora.
The lab will consist of two parts: in the morning, after an introduction to the topic, application examples will be presented and discussed. You can look forward to two exciting presentations that will give you insights into working with different topic modelling methods and use cases in research.
In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to analyse your own corpus and generate topics using the Mallet software. Under the supervision of expert Dr Keli Du (University of Trier), you will be shown which settings to choose and how to interpret the results.
Participants are expected to bring their own research data. This should be in txt format. If this is not possible, we can also provide you with a sample corpus. Please feel free to contact us if you need help converting your data.
The event will take place online via Zoom. Registration is possible separately for both parts.
The registration deadline is 20 November 2025. Please use the following form to register: https://nocodb.nfdi4culture.de/dashboard/#/nc/form/d02dce5e-2770-40ae-b2e0-564bee591736
