Event
On November 28 and 29, 2024 (from lunch to lunch), the second Bring-Your-Own-Data Lab on "Semantic Keyness for Literary Texts – Comparison of Text Groups" will take place.

At the University of Trier, Dr. Jan Oliver Rüdiger (IDS Mannheim), the developer of the analysis tool CorpusExplorer, will lead an intensive introductory workshop in which participants can explore and analyze their own datasets using CorpusExplorer.

An example of potential research questions will be drawn from the Beyond Words project at the University of Trier, which focuses on contrasting subgenres of the French novel: How do science fiction and crime novels differ not primarily in style, but in their settings or overarching themes?

Other participants are warmly encouraged to bring their own data—any type of comparison of text groups on a semantic-conceptual level is possible and welcome.

By the end of the event, participants will be able to use CorpusExplorer and will have analyzed and visualized their own data based on selected metadata.

Requirements for Participation:

  • You have a dataset you wish to analyze. This corpus should be divided into at least two groups, based on any criteria (e.g., genre, time period, author, etc.).
  • You are interested in examining your corpus on a semantic level for concepts using digital methods, with the goal of comparing different groups of texts.

Participation is limited to 12 people.

Please register by November 22, 2024. If interested, contact konstanciak [at] uni-trier.de (konstanciak[at]uni-trier[dot]de).

The program will be announced shortly!
