Invitation to the Meet & Greet 2024

The Meet & Greet offers you the opportunity to connect with professors from various fields in the humanities and cultural studies, all actively engaged in Digital Humanities. In three phases, you’ll be able to get answers to your questions, gain valuable insights into your doctoral research plans, and—ideally—find your future advisor.

Event Structure:

• Phase I: Introductions and preparation of questions, moderated by Dr. Ruth Reiche (Technical University of Darmstadt) and Johanna Konstanciak (University of Trier).
• Phase II: Presentation of current PhD dissertations supervised by Prof. Dr. Aline Deicke (Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz / Philipps University Marburg), Prof. Dr. Andrea Rapp (Technical University of Darmstadt), and Prof. Dr. Christof Schöch (University of Trier).
• Phase III: Phase III: Breakout sessions in a speed-dating format, allowing you to engage directly with the professors.

About HERMES:

The Data Competence Center HERMES – Humanities Education in Research, Data, and Methods (2023-2026, funded by the BMBF and NextGenerationEU) is establishing spaces for learning, research, and networking, where data literacy skills are imparted, further developed, and critically examined within the humanities and cultural studies.

This includes building a network for PhD students and their advisors, providing doctoral students with a space for interdisciplinary exchange in a protected setting, and supporting prospective PhD candidates in finding suitable advisors.

The Meet & Greet is organized by staff from the University of Trier and the Technical University of Darmstadt.

To ensure an in-depth exchange, the number of participants is limited to 12. We kindly ask for your commitment to attend if registered or to cancel early if you are unable to participate.
