As part of the Children's University of Trier University, Hannah Busch, Eva Bös, Sabine Philippi and Marianne Ruhlmann are offering the workshop "Letters, book blocks, book covers - how was a book in the Middle Ages?" at the city library of Trier this Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

In the Middle Ages almost all books were written by hand by monks and decorated with colorful letters and pictures. Almost every monastery had a writing workshop for this. In the event, the children learn what was written in these books and for whom they were made. Then the young students slip into the role of a medieval monk themselves and can produce their own colorfully decorated books.

The workshop is related to the projects eCodicology and Virtual Scriptorium St. Matthias, in which the Trier Center for Digital Humanities was involved.
