At the DH2025 conference in Lisbon, it was officially announced on 16 July 2025: Joëlle Weis has been elected to the Executive Committee of the European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH), alongside Anna Foka, Anna Maria Marras, and Jonas Müller-Laackman.
Dr. Joëlle Weis

European Association for Digital Humanities

The EADH brings together and represents the Digital Humanities in Europe across the entire spectrum of disciplines that research, develop, and apply digital humanities methods and technology. The EADH also supports the formation of DH interest groups in Europe that are defined by region, language, methodological focus or other criteria.

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) was founded in 1973 under the name Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing (ALLC) with the original purpose of supporting the application of computing in the study of language and literature.

EADH Executive Committee

Members of the Executive Committee are elected by the Annual General Meeting of the Association. There are nine members of the committee, each serving a three-year term. For the 2025–2028 term, Anna Foka, Anna Maria Marras, Jonas Müller-Laackman, and Joëlle Weis were elected.

Dr. Joëlle Weis Contributes Her Expertise to the EADH

Dr. Joëlle Weis has headed the “Digital Literary and Cultural Studies” department at the TCDH since late 2021. Her academic background lies in Early Modern history, which she explores using digital methods. In her candidacy statement, she emphasized the integrative nature of the Digital Humanities:

"What I value most about the Digital Humanities is the openness of the community and the natural way it brings together different disciplines. Building and strengthening that community is something I really care about."

Joëlle Weis is already actively engaged in various initiatives within the Digital Humanities community. She is co-leader of the DARIAH Working Group Community Engagement, where she focuses on creating spaces for collaboration and exchange. She is also an active member of the DHd (the Association for Digital Humanities in the German-speaking areas) and co-organized the DHd2023 annual conference, gaining hands-on experience in planning large events and bringing people together.

In conclusion, she wrote:

"I believe these experiences and skills could contribute to the ongoing development of EADH. It would be a real honour to support and represent the European DH community in the role as member of the executive board."

The TCDH warmly congratulates Dr. Joëlle Weis on her election and wishes her every success in her new role!
