This lecture is part of the lecture series "Praxis der Digital Humanities". It takes place as part of the Master's "Digital Humanities". However, it is open to all interested parties and will be designed as a video conference with a lecture and discussion option.

In the Korean humanities, digitization and computing began in the 1960s, when Edward Wagner and Song June-ho embarked on their 35-year journey to build a database of 14,600 civil service examination degree holders. Today, an impressive collection of open-access historical archives is available to researchers. In this talk, I will explain how digital transformation has affected the study of Korean history and culture and what the South Korean experience may teach us about the digital humanities on the whole.
