ExhibitionThe cooperation project eCodicology invites you to visit the exhibition "Maschinen und Manuskripte – Digitale Erschließung der Handschriften von St. Matthias" in the library of the Episcopal Seminary Trier (Jesuitenstrasse 13, 54290 Trier) from October 14, 2015.
The exhibition „Maschinen und Manuskripte – Digitale Erschließung der Handschriften von St. Matthias“ illustrates the connection between medieval books and modern research. The visitor is introduced to the topic of book studies through the description of the creation of a medieval book. But what do the old books tell us? The cooperation project eCodicology is not about the content-related development of texts, but an automated recognition and analysis of features of the object itself. Using developed programs, not only the page size should be recorded, but also design properties such as the page structure in text space, image space, columns - and number of lines are recognized automatically. The exhibition explains in an understandable way the range from medieval book production to today's research into this historical evidence in the 'digital age'.
