Abstract:
The project “Arthur Schnitzler: Digital Historical-Critical Edition” is a binational cooperation of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the University of Cambridge, the Cambridge University Library, the German Literature Archive Marbach, and the Trier Center for Digital Humanities. The aim of the project is the creation of a digital, historical-critical edition of the works of Arthur Schnitzler and its publication via an online portal. The works taken into account for this project are about 200 partly published, partly posthumous works, drafts, and fragments of the late Schnitzler (ca. 1914-1934). The transcription of the documents takes place in a multi-staged procedure in consideration of the original positioning of the textual elements. Both a documentary-descriptive and a genetic-interpreting characterisation are planned in order to enable various views on the text. The Trier Center for Digital Humanities supervises the creation of the digital edition and provides IT- support in the working processes with newly developed as well as well established tools.
