The Trier Center for Digital Humanities is looking for two assistants for digital annotation in the field of Digital Literary Studies.

In the project "Modernity as Loss? Textual Structures, Variants, and Cycles of Literary Cultural Critique" at the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (TCDH), we are interested in the description, classification, and automatic detection of literary criticism in fictional narrative texts. For data collection in our text corpus, we are looking for two student assistants to support us with digital annotation for 20 hours per month.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Annotation of German-language fictional texts using the "Inception" tool based on existing guidelines
  • Annotation of text passages from research texts
  • Discussion of problematic cases
  • Small research assignments

Profile of requirements & qualifications:

  • Studies in the humanities, preferably German studies, English studies, or linguistics
  • Interest in working with digital tools and literary texts
  • Accuracy in handling texts, structured approach, independent work, technical interest
  • Willingness to familiarize oneself intensively with literary annotation guidelines
  • Willingness to familiarize oneself with the web-based annotation tool Inception
  • Proficiency in German (L1)
