The letter corpus, containing nearly 700 German and Danish letters to and from Henrik Steffens, is now freely accessible: https://www.henrik-steffens-edition.de/.
The letters have been systematically collected, analyzed, and compiled into a digital archive.
Previously published only in fragments, Henrik Steffens' correspondence represents a central source for the history of natural philosophy and knowledge networks in the early 19th century, while also documenting the sociopolitical discourses of his time. To promote and facilitate further research on Steffens, it was essential to undertake a scholarly analysis of his letters and unpublished handwritten records, which are scattered across various estates and administrative documents throughout Europe. As there is no unified estate of Henrik Steffens, the project aimed not only to analyze but also to digitally consolidate his correspondence.
