The competence center for electronic cataloging and publication processes in the humanities at the University of Trier is celebrating its tenth anniversary! On this occasion, the seventh international <philtag> workshop "Communicating eHumanities: Archives, Textcentres, Portals" will take place from October 13-14, 2008 in Trier. Experts from home and abroad meet to exchange ideas on current developments and research in the field of IT philology.
Prof. Dr. Fotis Jannidis (TU Darmstadt) on Monday, October 13th at 6 p.m. (lecture hall 1). Fotis Jannidis is not only one of the pioneers of the use of EDP in German literary studies, but also and above all the pioneer for the acceptance of the TEI in Germany.
The opening lecture for the conference will be held on October 13, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. (room B12), Dr. Michael Sperberg-McQueen of the World Wide Web Consortium. He is one of the main developers of the markup language XML and the document format TEI - both standards are accepted and used worldwide; his topic "What is schema mapping, and why should portals care?"
