As an important part of the European cultural heritage, the manuscripts of the court school of Emperor Charlemagne are to be included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The eight manuscripts and a fragment are now scattered in libraries all over Europe, including the Ada Gospels, which is in the Trier City Library. As part of the UNESCO initiative, the manuscripts are to be digitized and brought back together to form a closed unit and made available to the public.

The international, transdisciplinary conference "Die Handschriften der Hofschule Kaiser Karls des Großen – individuelle Gestalt und europäisches Kulturerbe" from October 10th to 12th 2018 in the Trier City Library, which is organized by the Trier City Library and the subject of Older German Philology at the University of Trier in cooperation with the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (TCDH) and the Trier Center for Medieval Studies, serve to take stock of the court school manuscripts. More than 30 recognized experts present the individual codes based on the latest research and address the intellectual and cultural framework conditions of court school production.

The conference languages ​​are German and English. Participation is free, registration is requested.

The conference is under the patronage of the Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister, Malu Dreyer.
