As part of the Children's University of Trier University, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the workshop "Letters, book blocks, book covers - how was a book in the Middle Ages?" Will take place at the Wittlich city library on April 20, 2018 .

In the Middle Ages almost all books were written by hand by monks and decorated with colorful letters and pictures. Almost every monastery had a writing workshop for this. In the event, the children learn what was written in these books and for whom they were made. Then the young students slip into the role of a medieval monk themselves and can produce their own colorfully decorated books.

Lecturers at the workshop are Hannah Busch (TCDH) and Eva Bös (bookbinding and restoration workshop Mohr) as well as Daniel Zang (TCDH). The event is being offered for the fourth time in a row as part of the Trier Children's University.

The workshop is related to the projects eCodicology and Virtual Scriptorium St. Matthias, in which the Trier Center for Digital Humanities was involved.
